How ecoplus Came to Be The Business Agency of Lower Austria


ecoplus marketing sujets 2001-2011

1962: The IZ NÖ-Süd, or "Industriezentrum NÖ-Süd GmbH".
As far back as 1962, and at the initiative of the province of Lower Austria, expansion begins on the industrial center IZ NÖ-Süd in Wiener Neudorf. The company shares are divided equally among the province of Lower Austria, NEWAG and NIOGAS. The province of Lower Austria assumes full ownership in 1968.

1982: ecoplus Agency for Business Promotion and Economic Development in Lower Austria
The IZ NÖ-Süd merges with the NÖRBS with subsequent change of company name. Company seat is now the IZ NÖ-Süd.

1987: ecoplus Business Development and Regionalization in Lower Austria

St. Pölten is named provincial capital of Lower Austria. At the ame time, the Lower Austrian provincial government starts a comprehensive regional development program and puts ecoplus in charge of its implementation.

1990: Management of Holdings
ecoplus assumes holdings in companies closely involved in ecoplus business parks and entities carrying out so-called initiative projects in the Lower Austrian regions.

1995: Implementation of EU Regional Policy in Lower Austria

1998: Cross-border and Interregional Projects
ecoplus creates a new service division to encourage cross-border cooperation with neighboring countries.

2000: A New Era Begins: Real Estate Development through Technology Centers
The TFZ - Technology and Research Center Wiener Neustadt – is completed in the summer; its grand opening takes place in November.

2001: New Offices in St. Pölten & ecoplus Establishes Clusters
ecoplus opens new offices in the provincial capital of St. Pölten, where the Green Building Cluster is located. ecoplus is commissioned with the expansion of clusters in Lower Austria. ecoplus is to determine which thematic areas in Lower Austria are most suitable for clusters and networks, carry out analyses on market and cooperation potential, and organize and accompany a multi-year expansion phase for the clusters.

2004: Lower Austrias Business Agencies in CEE &  Technopol Program
ecoplus opens up offices abroad in Prague, Bratislava and Budapest. As program manager, ecoplus is responsible for the implementation of the Technopol Program as commissioned by department WST 3, Lower Austria office for technology.

2007: New ecoplus Divisions: business locations & services; projects & initiatives and companies & technology

2008: ecoplus Moves to New Offices at the Wirtschaftszentrum Niederösterreich in St. Pölten 

2009: Food Cluster of Lower Austria & further Technology Centers are developed
The four-year-old Food Cluster Initiative becomes a full-fledged cluster, the Food Cluster of Lower Austria. The new cluster is backed jointly by the Lower Austrian Economy Office and Agriculture Office and the Agricultural Department and is managed by ecoplus. The 2nd TZT Expansion Phase is completed and grand opening of the TZWL - Technology Center Wieselburg-Land

2010: Launch of the Technology Campaign
The motto "For the Future – On Behalf of the People" ist the heart of of a major promotional campaign focusing on technology started by the province of Lower Austria and implemented by ecoplus. In addition to the popular "Long Night of Research," numerous other attractive programs have been established to stimulate interest and enthusiasm for technology.

2011: Extension of Regional Support
The Lower Austrian provincial government signs off on an extension of regional support for the years 2014 to 2020. Now, each year, just over €29 million will be made available to municipalities and project backers.

2012: Anniversary Year for Regional Support (1987-2012)
The year 2012 marks the 25th anniversary of regional support for the economic development of Lower Austrian regions.
