Campus Krems
Campus Krems is home to Danube University Krems and the IMC University of Applied Sciences Krems. Both institutions employ teams of researchers active in medical biotechnology. The campus boasts state-of-the-art facilities for research and education, with approx. 900 m² (9,687 sq. feet) ultramodern, cleanroom laboratory space for R&D.

Danube University Krems - Faculty of Health and Medicine


  • Department for Health Sciences and Biomedicine
    The Department of Clinical Medicine and Biotechnology has earned international renown as a leading research institute in the area of intelligent systems for extracor-poreal blood purification and continues to enhance its reputation by ongoing cooperation with strategic partners.
    It has also been able to establish itself among international leaders in the field of regenerative medicine, particularly in the area of musculoskeletal systems, but also in cellular therapy and diagnostics.

  • Department of Interdisciplinary Dentistry and Technology
    The role of this department is to expand upon the existing knowledge of dentists and their teams but also to
    impart new knowledge of general medicine as relates to dentistry. Post-graduate studies and scientific research are thus central tasks of the intra- and interdisciplinary dialogue at the Danube University Krems.

Research here is primarily focused on the areas of cell characterization and bioactive substances.

Bio Science Park Krems
Production facilities of biotech companies are located at the Bio Science Park Krems. A total of 84,000m² have been designated as building area, whereby approx. 20% have already been developed. Tailor-made infrastructure for manufacturing and research was created by establishing the BTZ (Biotechnology Center Krems) and the RIZ Nord (Regional Innovation Center North). Fully GMP-compliant manufacturing facilities for the production of biotechnological goods are available. A total of 1,900m² of modern laboratory and clean room space have been created in recent years, of which 500m² fulfill the highest clean room specifications for medical and cell biology procedures.
 
BTZ - Biotechnology Center Krems
The BTZ boasts ultramodern infrastructure and around 3,500 m2 (37,673 sq. feet) space for long-term lease by biotech and pharmaceutical companies. The Biotechnology Center Krems is a professional partner when it comes to GMP-compliant laboratories.
 
RIZ Nord (Regional Innovation  & Start-Up Center North)
RIZ Nord offers its tenants much more than just office space and high-tech laboratories. Young entrepreneurs profit from free professional advice in matters related to GMP and pharmaceutical quality management; receive help in preparing for audits; and are accompanied in the case of official inspections undertaken in accordance with Austrian pharmaceutical laws and regulations.
