Modern Industrial Technologies

Competence Center for Electrochemical Surface Technologies (CEST)
K1 Center, TFZ Wiener Neustadt
CEST is a government-funded K1 Center with a fixed duration within the framework of the leading research program COMET. It is engaged in research and development in applied electrochemistry. Basic research projects address the development of new methods of evaluation and investigation but also adapt and optimize existing methods for specific research questions. Within the framework of modeling technology, new tools for the description of electrochemical processes are being developed.
AC²T - Austrian Center of Competence for Tribology
K2 Center, TFZ Wiener Neustadt
Project backer is the AC²T – Austrian Center of Competence for Tribology, a commercial research society in which significant stakes are held by the Austrian Tribology Society as well as other leading figures and research partners from industry and academia. Interdisciplinary, cutting-edge research is carried out primarily in the areas of lubricants and lubrication, functional surfaces, tribo-systems characterization (TRI), tribo-sensors and tribo-simulation.
AIT Austrian Institute of Technology
TFZ Wiener Neustadt
As a unit of the AIT Health & Environment Department, the biomedical systems group engages in research in cooperation with clinical and medical partners from the healthcare industry. Its clients are on the one hand those with physical or mental disabilities or deficiencies, and on the other hand therapists, medical specialists as well as managers and/or operators of therapy and rehabilitation centers and hospitals.
Austrian Academy of Sciences - Institute for Integrated Sensor Systems (IISS)
TFZ Wiener Neustadt
Complex sensors are becoming increasingly important in the field of modern medicine and are being used to make individual and specific diagnoses and therapies possible. One primary aim of the Institute for Integrated Sensor Systems, or IISS, which was founded by the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW), is to explore such sensor systems as a prerequisite to their use in research, diagnosis and therapy: not only for application in medicine, but also in connection with technical aspects of environmental protection, and numerous possible applications in industry (automotive electronics, environmental engineering, etc.).
MedAustron, Wiener Neustadt
MedAustron is in the process of realizing the Austrian Cancer Research Center for Ion Therapy project. In this form of therapy, tumors are treated with ion beams which are produced in a particle accelerator. The Cancer Research Center will be built in the immediate vicinity of the TFZ, the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt and the new hospital location on the Civitas Nova grounds. Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place imminently, and trial operations are set to commence in 2013.
Fotec
TFZ Wiener Neustadt
Fotec is the research and service provider of the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt. Its close ties to the University and various international collaborations with other universities and research institutions make Fotec the ideal hub for educational, industrial and scientific projects. In conjunction with the Technikum Wiener Neustadt, Fotec also manages a well-equipped industrial research laboratory. Fotec carries out industrial, scientific and developmental research projects. Its core competencies include injection molding, product development, test and measurement engineering, rapid prototyping and project management.
ACMIT - Austrian Center for Medical Innovation and Technology
K1 Center, TFZ Wiener Neustadt
The competence center ACMIT, or Austrian Center for Medical Innovation and Technology commenced operations in April 2010. It is engaged in applied research in the field of medical technology. As a K1 center, it will be involved in numerous planned cooperative research projects with over 40 national and international partners in science and industry.
Attophotonics Biosciences
TFZ Wiener Neustadt
Attophotonics was founded in 2004 with the aim of creating products with active and intelligent design for use in daily life. Nanometer-thin coatings make it possible for Attophotonics to create special colors without the use of pigments. The surface of products of every kind can be treated with active nano-layers. Sensory nano-films interact with their environment and produce color patterns which can be discerned by the naked eye and which transmit information about the product's environment to the user or consumer.
NAKU
TFZ Wiener Neustadt
NAKU – the company's German name is an acronym for "Natürliche Kunststoffe," or organic plastics – devotes itself to technologies which utilize natural renewable materials to produce plastics. Thanks to their excellent biodegradability and environmental compatibility, organic plastics are in high demand for numerous applications in industry.
ofi - Austrian Research Institute for Chemistry and Technology
TFZ Wiener Neustadt
