Lecture: Advancements and challenges in gene therapy for rare diseases
Dr. Hanspeter Rottensteiner is Head of Research at Shire's Gene Therapy Innovation Hub in Orth a.d. Donau and thereby responsible for the development of novel gene therapies for rare diseases. Most advanced are the hemophilia A and B programs. His research also puts focus on the advancement of the AAV gene therapy technology platform. In his talk he will introduce the Innovation Hub and discuss how gene therapy can become a transformative therapy particularly for genetic diseases and which unique challenges still need to be addressed.
