Federal States Meeting of Austria’s Business Location Agencies
in Lower Austria
On September 18 and 19, 2025, this year’s Federal States Meeting of Austria’s business location and investment promotion agencies took place in Lower Austria. The event focused on the theme “Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence as Opportunities for Business Location and Development” and provided a platform for expert exchange and discussion of current developments in location policy.
The first day began at the House of Digitalization in Tulln with a formal welcome by ecoplus Managing Director Helmut Miernicki. Following this, Florian Frauscher (Federal Ministry of Labour and Economy), René Tritscher (Austrian Business Agency), and the managing directors of the regional agencies presented current initiatives and developments at both federal and state levels. A scientific contribution by Philipp Koch from the EcoAustria Institute highlighted the value creation effects of data centers in Lower Austria and sparked discussion on their economic significance.
The program continued with a visit to the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) in Klosterneuburg. Markus Wanko (Managing Director of xista science park) guided participants through the research ecosystem comprising ISTA, xista science park, and xista ventures, and explained the role of world-class research and the importance of expats for regional development.
On the second day, Claus Zeppelzauer opened with a keynote on the potential of digitalization and artificial intelligence for location development and business investment. This was followed by parallel working sessions where experts exchanged insights on business settlement and skilled labor development.
